This applies mostly to the DIY’ers out there who will be installing their own material.

When installing paper-faced mounted tiles such as our Kawaii glass mosaic tiles, care needs to be taken during the installation process when setting the tile in to the adhesive. Since the tiles are paper-faced mounted, the paper should be removed from the face of the tile when the adhesive is cured enough to hold the tiles in place in the mortar, yet not too cured so no adjustments to the tiles can be made as the installation progresses.

When to remove the paper from the face of the tile depends on a number of factors including the weather and how hot or cold it is at the location where the tiles are being installed, what type of mortar adhesive is being used and how long the mortar takes to “set up”. Trial and error is the name of the game and installing paper-faced mounted tiles has been and can be installed by DIY’ers and Tile pro’s alike.

Paper-faced mosaic tiles have been around for years and they serve their purpose for some mosaic tiles vs. others. Feel free to give us a call anytime if you have questions about installing your Kawaii glass mosaic tiles.

Seychelles is hard not to love given that (the country) is a small and beautiful island off the coast of East Africa with some of the prettiest scenery in the world.

In our Seychelles glass mosaic tile blend we incorporated some of the colors one might find near a beach area and we put them together in what is fast becoming one of our favorite glass blends.

The colors in our Seychelles blend will go very well with walnut or oak cabinets in the kitchen as a glass mosaic tile backsplash choice, or as a nice accent strip with a travertine or marble shower material in a bathroom project. Our Solana glass mosaic tiles come mesh mounted for easy installation and they can be ordered in any quantities.

Try out our Seychelles blend for your kitchen or bathroom tile project and you will be pleased with the beautiful colors this blend will bring to any room in your home.

Our answer depends on which one of our glass subway tile products that you choose. When selecting our Solana beveled glass subway tiles, using the glass tile quarter round is necessary with the beveled tile when there is an open or exposed edge on a kitchen backsplash or shower to address. If your project ends in to a wall, then the tile can finish against the wall and there is no need for a quarter round piece.

When selecting our standard edge glass subway tiles the use of a quarter round is generally not necessary since the color of the edge of the tile is the same as the color of the face of the tile. The only case where this might change is if your tile installer will be using backer board on your substrate to install the tiles. In this case you will need a glass tile quarter round as your edge piece to cover up the edge and conceal the backer board.

Sometimes this if – when – but in this case etc. can get quite confusing. Please feel free to give us a call anytime about your project and we will do our best to add our 2 cents and give you our opinion on what might be needed or not needed for your particular job.

There are eight glass tile quarter round colors even though our Solana glass subway tiles only consist of seven colors at this time. This is because we added a black color quarter round for those projects where folks might want to add a dark trim as a decorative piece with white or lighter color tiles.

Our glass tile quarter rounds are sold by the piece and they are in stock and ready for immediate shipment.

We have seen an increased interest this month from our customers choosing our glass floor tiles for projects such as a family entertainment room as well as a commercial building entry way. Glass tile made for and used as a floor tile can add a very unique design element to a space where one may be wishing to add a wide area of color. For this purpose we offer both the Trumpet and the Cello glass floor tile collections for our customers to choose from.

Clear glass has been used as a floor surface since the early 1900’s when glass block was introduced to provide natural light under city sidewalks and to walking passages in industrial and manufacturing plants. Glass has also been used as flooring in commercial projects such as restaurants and hotels where large panels are used in 3’ x 3’ or 4’ x 4’ blocks that often weigh several hundred pounds per piece. Today, glass has been adapted for home and light commercial use so more folks can enjoy the beauty of glass material in their home and work locations.

Both the Trumpet and Cello glass floor tiles are offered in standard floor tile sizes from the AnchorBayTile website but they are both also available in many custom sizes that are made via a special order. Please inquire directly to us via email to sales – AT – anchorbaytile.com if you have any further questions about these or any of our tiles.

Building upon our post on Friday we wanted to share some additional ideas on using glass mosaic tiles as an accent choice when planning your remodeling project. The nice thing about using glass mosaic tiles as an accent in a kitchen backsplash, bathroom shower or other area is you typically only need to purchase one or two sheets to supply all the material you will need for your project.

Glass Mosaic Tile sheets can easily be cut in to strips by using a utility blade and cutting the mesh that the tiles are mounted to. Most folks cut the mesh in to 2” or 3” strips to have a row of two or three glass tiles to break up an area or large wall. You can also cut the glass mosaic tile sheets in to 3” x 3” squares and insert them in to a project as accent pieces either randomly or create your own fun pattern.

Have a look at the project photos above for some ideas shared with us by some of our customers which we are happy to share with you our Blog readers.

Our Solana Glass Mosaic Tile Blends tiles are available in a 1” x 1” size in four coordinating colors that match our 3” x 6” Solana Glass Subway tiles. The Meadow color is a wonderful light and soft green color that matches our Mint color Glass Subway Tile. The Smooth Grey glass mosaic tile blend shares the same name as our Solana 3” x 6” glass subway tile color in smooth grey. The Blue Lagoon glass mosaic tile blend is a mix of three colors with one of the primary colors being our Solana 3” x 6” Cool Blue color. Finally, the Sand Dune blend is a mix of Cappuccino and Khaki and coordinates with each of the colors in the same name in our 3” x 6” glass subway tile collection.

These glass mosaic tile blends are a great and affordable choice as a shower accent stripe when paired together with our 3” x 6” glass subway tiles. We have also had clients use the 3” x 6” glass subway tiles in the shower and use the coordinating glass mosaic tiles color as the kitchen backsplash choice. This way the color palette in the home can be consistent from one room to another.

We would love to hear any creative ideas you might have to use our glass mosaic tiles and glass subway tiles in a unique and fun design.
