We had a question posed to us this past week about grouting our subway tiles using black grout and whether the tiles need to be sealed prior to installation. That is a great question and one that we thought would be a good idea to post on our blog.

When purchasing our Cardiff Crackle subway tiles and if using black or a dark color grout we strongly recommend sealing the tiles prior to installation. Sealing the crackle tiles before installing them will protect against any of the black or dark grout getting in to the crackle glaze and will ensure a trouble free install.

For our Cottage Lane subway tiles, since these tiles are not crackle glaze it is not necessary to seal them prior to installation. Hopefully this post is helpful and answers the question fully. If you need any further clarification don’t hesitate to give us a call at our office.
