How to Install a Tile Backsplash
Installing a backsplash in your kitchen can bring new life to an otherwise tired space.
If your kitchen has drywall between the cabinets and countertops, you are in luck. Tile can be installed right over the drywall.
Determine what kind of tile you want to use. Do you want to to create a pattern? Do you want to use mosaic? Measure the area where your tile will be going. Using graph paper, plan out how the tile will fall on the wall. You will want to make sure that any cuts to the tile fall in the appropriate places, not in the middle of the design.
Apply your tile set to the wall. You will want to work from the bottom up. If you have a small area like the one I have shown above you can spread the thinset over the entire surface with your notched trowel.
Continue working across your wall.
Once you are done installing the tile you will need to wait 24 hours for the thinset to cure. Then you will be able to grout using a non sanded grout.
